Currently in Australia. Before coming and working in the mines I had online income. Unfortunately I can't use my previous income as proof for the DTV.

What's the cheapest option to get the DTV until I reistablish my online income?

Language lessons maybe?
Answer summary
The individual is seeking cost-effective options for obtaining a Digital Work Visa (DTV) while working in Australia and without the ability to prove previous online income. Various suggestions include obtaining a cover letter from their employer to demonstrate foreign employment status, considering alternative pathways like Muay Thai or cooking courses as the primary basis for DTV. However, language lessons are generally not acceptable for this visa type. Additionally, financial requirements such as maintaining a minimum bank balance are emphasized.

are you still working in the mines and if so, FiFo?

If so, you should be able to explain it with a tactful cover letter from your employer.

The key criteria is being engaged in foreign employment or enterprise, not how much work you do when in Thailand.

Here's what AI has to say:

How FIFO Workers Pass the DTV Criteria

To get approved via the official Thai e-Visa Portal, you must satisfy two core

pillars: your employment status and your bank balance.

• The Employment Letter (The Critical Step): If you submit a standard Australian

employment contract that explicitly says you are a site-based miner working a

"2-on, 2-off" roster in Western Australia or Queensland, a visa officer might

reject it because it implies your work cannot physically be done from

Thailand.

• The Fix: On forums like Facebook's DTV Group, users agree that you should

provide a company letter from your employer stating that you are an employee

in good standing, your position allows for remote availability, or that you

work on a flexible location-independent rotation. Avoid overly emphasizing

that you are "completely offline and forbidden to work" during your

off-swing. Frame your roster as giving you the flexibility to base yourself

internationally between shifts.

Read the Thai Embassy website for your resident country in which you have to be in, during the WHOLE application process.

You can come as a tourist and join an approved language school. Up to 14 months... If that's enough time to get yourself sorted. I have a mate at my school going back to change to dtv soon. My school does 4 month blocks. Now dtv mainly takes workation or like a freelance outside of Thailand, which I think you can't meet. Suggest to stay in Oz and build up your freelance again, also save money....

The DTV Soft Power category could be a good alternative for you, with options such as Muay Thai training or Thai cooking courses. Language courses do not qualify.

Before enrolling or making any payments, make sure both the provider and programme meet the DTV requirements, as not all schools or courses are eligible.

You can't do language course for DTV, you should just do basic research online first and then come here with specifics
