Very hypothetical and not related to any real situation that I'm involved in but let's assume a minor on a dependant visa loses its parents while in Thailand. The child has no relatives in his home country and basically grew up in Thailand. Would it be naturalised? Or sent to an orphanage in its home country? Just curious if there is a protocol for this kind of stuff and what you guys think about it π

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion addressed the hypothetical situation of a minor on a dependent visa in Thailand losing their parents. Comments emphasized that the child would likely be returned to their home country with assistance from their embassy, and if no relatives could be found, the child might enter the orphan care system. Concerns were raised about the potential for naturalization, with most agreeing that the child is unlikely to be naturalized and would instead need to adhere to immigration protocols. The responses also highlighted the importance of ensuring care arrangements were made by the parents in advance.
It's a no brainer nothing hypothetical about it the child would be processed and returned back to its native country and put into care through the foster system it's highly unlikely the child would not have relatives living back home not saying its not possible but highly unlikely if the child has relative the may file for guardianship though the legal system
I would imagine the child will be sent back to the country it is a citizen of with coordination with the appropriate Embassy who I suspect would attempt to find a relative unless the child is half Thai.
