Does anyone know what happens at the airport (BKK) if you show up without an English vaccine passport or English test result? (but have both in another language)

TLDR : Answer Summary
Travelers at Bangkok's airport (BKK) may face issues if they arrive without an English version of their vaccine passport or test results, as airlines typically enforce these rules prior to boarding. While experiences vary, many have reported that airlines only require proof of vaccination, as long as it is in English. At the airport itself, verification of such documents seems random, with some travelers stating they were not asked for them upon arrival. In case of discrepancies or missing documents, travelers might be subjected to testing or other requirements, but outright deportation appears uncommon.

As understand its random that ask to see it... If don't have it you have to take a test... The chances? I don't know?

Yeah, I was thinking if there are any discrepancies with documents, they could easily do a test and tell people to stay in a specific hotel or at airport til results are done. I'm sure there are many a test kit roaming around these days unused. It seems extreme to deport someone for covid when it's all around

same thing in Spain. I had an app ready to go and show whatever they needed. And not a soul asked about it. I was a little bit shocked

I suppose I should also say that the vaccine record that I have has significant English translation on it already actually (I thought it was a lot less), but it's a local health dept document paper and not an official international vaccine passport (I hear there are many different kinds?).

Are airlines and/or immigration only accepting some kind of internationally recognized document or do they just want to see some kind of record?

they just want to see evidence you've been vaccinated. Whatever they use in China should be fine provided it's also in English. If in doubt give your airline a call as they'll be the ones who will decide if you get on the plane or not. I wouldn't worry about being checked at BKK, I'm not aware of anyone being asked to show it.

Good to hear! I was just thinking I should double check with the airlines a few minutes ago, too. Thanks!

as an example, Emirates were fine with my online Thai vaccination records (in English) when checking in at Heathrow for flight to BKK last month. No one asked for them at BKK, just passport and boarding pass.

You might not even get that far. The airline are the ones who are supposed to enforce this rule, so you might not even get on your flight.

Ah ok. Perhaps they'll have some sympathy since I'll be coming from a currently locked down city in China haha. Know if immigration in BKK will check vaccine docs?

the airline's job isn't too have sympathy, it's to enforce government rules so they don't get huge fines.

Immigration does not check for that, there's a health officer there may check long before you ever get to immigration. If you don't meet requirements and they want to see it, you'll never even see immigration.

Yes..I was just joking about sympathy. I was hoping there might be some secondary method where they could do NAT at airport if there are any..issues.

I was hoping it'd be something sensible like take a simple test on arrival. Good to hear that you've heard this at the airport. Thanks for your response!

But you say departing airlines will deny boarding... So they should never get there to be sent home?

All i am saying is that it's a random thing that you may get asked to proved vaccination when you arrive and i have read if you can't you will have to take a test before entry...?

I would think you’d have no issue with that. Enough in English to show you’ve been vaxxed.

I'm in China in lockdown lol. There's a place I can get, but obviously closed right now. There's some English on the vaccine paper I currently have though. Would you happen to know if they'd only accept some official international passport or just looking for some record?
