TLDR : Answer Summary
The post inquires about groups that offer guidance on obtaining U.S. immigration visas for foreign spouses from Thailand. It highlights concerns about proving income for the affidavit of financial support, particularly when the individual has been abroad and does not meet the asset thresholds to waive income requirements, potentially necessitating temporary return to the U.S. for work.

The question I want to ask such a group would be: I have been traveling for the past year so I cannot prove current income. There is a proof of income requirement for a affidavit of financial support. I also don't have the US $101,500 in assets to have the income requirement waived. I fear I may have to return to the us to work for a few months and make a quick $20k before I start the visa process.

I am a carpenter. At home I can make >$1k a week in Thailand I suspect that job pays <$1k a month. Also it is not a work permit available job as it can be done by a thai national.

With money you can solve many things, I spent the first 6 months of our marriage working. And then we were together four months and then I went to work another four months.. why not work in Thailand?

Seems like what I may end up doing. I just wanted to find out about other options as leaving a spouse in another country for months working, then 6 to 8 months processing time is not ideal. At that point we may be spending more time apart than time previously spent together.

Yes, but my family is still very skeptical as they have never met her.

You can get a co-signer, I.e. A family member, a friend, etc.

It takes a year or more with a company and really it depends on how much money you have. There's multiple ways to do it.
