Hello Everyone! First time posting in the group. Does anybody happen to have any experience or knowledge with the spousal visa CR1 in a foreign country? I’m American and my wife is Filipina We live in Thailand, as I have my retirement visa and she’s a dependent under my retirement visa and Thailand is our home. I tried googling and getting a hold of both embassies in Thailand, and in Philippines, and not getting any definite, clear answers. Does anybody have any knowledge or personal experience in a situation like this? to me, it makes sense to process the visa in Bangkok at the US Embassy since that is our residence but yet she is a Filipina, so not sure if it needs to be done in the Philippines, which that would make no sense to keep going back-and-forth
TIA!
TLDR : Answer Summary
An American expat in Thailand is seeking guidance on processing a CR1 spousal visa for his Filipina wife. Despite attempts to gather information from the US and Philippine embassies, he hasn't received clear answers. He wonders if they can apply at the US Embassy in Bangkok since they reside in Thailand, or if the application must be processed in the Philippines. Community members suggest utilizing the USCIS website for initial documentation and highlight that interviews can be conducted at the American Embassy in Bangkok.
