Good day everyone! Thank you for accepting my request.

Please assist me with the following. I am planning to come to tailand in the beginning of March ( first time) and just wanted to ask what documents do I need? I am a south African with the 30days Visa free entry. I wanted to make a long term tourist visa but the tai embassy in Saudi Arabia is 6 hours away from where I am. So can I extend my visa in tailand immigration while I'm there? Or do I need to leave and make a office tourist visa and then come back?

Also do I need to show onwards ticket when I arravie at the airport?

Thank you so much

And hope everyone have a wonderful 2020 ahead. ๐Ÿ˜Š

TLDR : Answer Summary
A South African traveler is inquiring about document requirements for entering Thailand, the process for extending a 30-day visa-free entry, and whether an onward ticket is necessary upon arrival. The community suggests that the traveler can extend their visa for 30 days at a local immigration office, but must ultimately leave Thailand to apply for a long-term tourist visa at a nearby Thai consulate.

I'm curious, why do you want to use the Thai embassy in Saudi Arabia? South Africa has a Thai embassy.

because I work and stay in Saudi Arabia. So dont want to waste funds by booking a ticket home then book a nother ticket to tailand.

How long do you plan to stay as a long term tourist? I hope you already found out that tourists are not allowed to engage in any work or profession.

yes I'm well aware of that. Just planning to take a long holiday before I go back to the middle east. ๐Ÿ˜Š

you will get in on a 30 day visa exempt entry and you can extend that ONE time for 30 days at the immigration office where you stay for 1900baht then you need to leave the country and either go to a thai consulate nearby (that allows S/A passport holders to apply at) and get a tourist visa, OR you need to exit/re-enter the country to get a NEW 30 day visa exempt entry stamp.
