/ cross border with Thai license plates /

Is it possible to go to Malaysia (only across the border to the next best hotel) and come back the next day or do I nead the ASEAN license plate?

How does one get that license plate?

Thanks in advance

TLDR : Answer Summary
To cross into Malaysia with Thai license plates, you need to obtain a specific document from the Konson department; without it, you may be stopped at the border. Additionally, there is an office near the border where you can acquire special plates and insurance for the crossing. One commenter mentioned that insurance was approximately 950 baht for two weeks a decade ago, and you would receive stickers with your Malay number if approved.

Few hundred meters before the actual border crossings is an office where you can get the special plates and insurance for a crossing into Malaysia.

It depends on how long you want the Malay insurance to be valid. But expect about 1,500-2,000thb

I have no car, so I can not help you with the details.
