My question now: other than my printed-out visa, what do I need to present at my first entry?
Also, I would love to hear how I can get a Thai driver's license with an IDP?
Thank you
Answer summary
Upon your first entry into Thailand with a DTV visa, you need to present your passport along with a printed copy of your DTV visa approval email. It's important to ensure that the visa is properly stamped for 180 days upon entry. Additionally, if you wish to obtain a Thai driver's license using an International Driving Permit (IDP), you are required to do so before your IDP expires after 90 days. You can apply for the driver's license after your first 90-day reporting.

Animals not need driving license so be aware at their advice.
Your international driving license in combination with your national license is only valid for 90 days, You need to arrange a Thai Driving license BEFORE 90 days in Thailand if you like to drive.
You can do it AFTER your first 90 day report, but be aware that you are not allowed to drive motor vehicles until you have a Thai license.
You may have to show PROOF of your DTV Visa to airline staff on check-in for your flight ✈️ to Thailand...even to the connecting airline staff. Or to the land border crossing entry Thai Immigration Officer.
Upon arrival into Thailand, show the DTV visa to the Thai Immigration Officer and look at the STAMP placed in your passport to be sure you are STAMPED in for 180 days.
GrayWallaby8130 I got my Thai drivers license on a tourist visa, and recently renewed it before I did my first 90 day reporting in Bangkok.
People say you can’t get a cert of residence without doing a 90 day report, and it does ask for it on the form, but I didn’t provide one when I went to immigration in Bangkok and they had no problem with it. In fact they didn’t even mention it.
Fill out the TDAC arrival form when you have 3 days or less before your arrival. You can do it free with the THIM app, or online at TDAC.immigration.go.th
