. Note that there are bank branches in the Immigration building at Chaeng Wattana (except KBank), so if the officer asks you to update your bank book that day, you can go downstairs, deposit a few baht in your account, and come back with an updated book (no cost). There are also print shops in the building, so as long as you have every conceivable document saved on your phone or Google Drive (like your TM30, your apartment lease, a Google Maps printout of your address, etc.) you can go downstairs and print any additional documents they ask for. After getting the one-year extension, you can take another number at the front desk and get into the queue for the re-entry permit (for which you may need to go downstairs to the print shop again, to photocopy your new one-year extension stamp in your passport). It was all fairly straightforward, if bureaucratic - I was in and out last week in barely three hours, arriving at 8:15 a.m. without an appointment.
