First time with DTV via BKK/DMK - digital is enough, printed is just backup. Immigration has your DTV in their system before you land - they scan passport and see eVisa.
*What to have ready on phone + 1 printed copy in carry-on:*
For passport control (if pulled to secondary):
1. DTV eVisa PDF - the one with QR and 5 year validity - save offline, not just email
2. TDAC - Thailand Digital Arrival Card QR - do it 72h before -
*****************************
- screenshot QR
3. Passport - obviously
*Nice to have if they ask "What will you do in Thailand":*
4. For workcation - employment letter or company registration - 1 page, not full contract
5. For soft power - invitation letter from school/gym with dates covering next 3-6 months - original with stamp
6. Accommodation - first night hotel booking - just address
7. Return/onward ticket - not required for DTV but some airlines ask at check-in
*What NOT to carry in hand:*
- Bank statements with 500k - that's embassy check, not border check for DTV. No need to show at airport unless officer specifically asks and you're on soft power
- Full portfolio of work - overkill
Pro tip: At BKK, use automated channel if open - DTV works at e-gates now for many nationalities. If e-gate fails, go to manned counter, hand passport only, don't offer papers unless asked. Saying too much creates questions.
Most people report: give passport, look at camera, get stamp 180 days, done in 30 seconds.
Are you both on same category - workcation or soft power? Soft power needs a bit more paperwork on first entry.
You could consider reading a book or two before your trip. Iβd recommend Unlock Thailand by Isla Rey on Amazon, it includes all the info and insights you need. You should check it out. A very good companion π.
