What documents and tips do I need for applying for a DTV visa in Thailand from the UK?

Hey, is anyone able to help me just to make sure I have what’s needed for the DTV. I think I have everything, but just from people’s personal experiences, any tips would be amazing!

I will have (at the time of applying)

- 500,000 baht in my account for 3/4 months

- 6 months of invoices and matching bank statements

- a freelance contract (I freelance for a uk company)

- a letter stating I can work remotely and no Thai connections

- cover letters.

I will also have the usual passport/accomodation/flights etc.

In terms of preparing now, does anyone know if I need anything else? I’ll be applying in London next year.

Thanks for the help!

You need to prove you're in the UK. They ask for utility bills or you can use your driver licence. I thought my bank statements would be enough but they asked for further proof.

They might ask for your latest income tax filing.

Okay, I haven’t filed any taxes yet as it will fall under the tax year.

So you never filed income tax before? It doesn't have to be related to your current remote work. Just that you file your taxes.

No never before because prior to this i worked in a job that does it all. The freelance work I’ve done for the company is since April 2025

For the bank account, be sure to include a statement that shows a recent date, not just like last months statement (I was asked for this). Photos of every page in your passport. In your letter about your job, include why you want a DTV for Thailand. I explained my position and said something nice on how I wanted to experience a great culture.

You need a prove of residence, i attached an internet bill which states my address. Copy all your passport pages, it was suggested here. I did it and they didn't ask me any documents integration and I got it in 2 working days

Would my TM30 work?

Anonymous participant I mean the prove of the residence of your home country, which could be a driving license, a bill, a document which states your home country address same as written in your passport. I'd add payslips as well, or invoices of your clients.

Make sure you have a proper passport style pic to upload they often ask for one if the quality is not great so that can delay matters a few days. I used IlovePDF to merge and compress some of the bigger files to meet the file size for each relevant section,

I used that to show every page of my passport in one file.

You need to confirm that the remote work you will be doing does not involve working with and Thai nationals or Thai Companies.

Does the UK Company you are working for have any subsidiary office/ business within Thailand?

Basically triple check all your personal details are correct and all answers provided. Maybe easier applying in London, I did mine in Vietnam but only because it was easy to travel to from Thailand.

GL and keep the forum updated on your application

To avoid a request for more docs you could inc a portfolio which is open ended in meaning it can included CV, breakdown of your online role, company website links, sample of work, client appreciation email etc..You have a very solid application.
