Workcation (digital nomad) DTV approved in 5 working days - London 🇹🇭 🇬🇧

June 12th - Applied online, via the freelancer/business owner route, selecting the Royal Thai Embassy in London.

June 15th - Received request for two additional documents (one more proof of current location, and three months of recent utility bills) which I sent within the hour.

June 18th - Received e-visa in my inbox.

Notes:

I sent everything as requested in the initial application but was still asked for the two documents above. Balance on statement ending on 10th June was around £14k, and I only sent this one month statement. The statement showed a starting balance of £12k though, and an end balance of £14k so that would have shown it wasn’t just deposited in the last month. I wasn’t asked for more bank statements, but I did include three months of payslips in my original application.

Documents I attached:

Cover letter confirming type of DTV I was applying and that I understood employment was prohibited and all my earnings would be from outside Thailand.

Employment certificate on my company headed paper, signed by hand and stamped with the company stamp, detailing my position, salary, and confirmation that I am a remote worker and can work from anywhere in the world.

Companies House document showing I owned the company, and that the company had been incorporated in 2011.

Three months of payslips from one client only (not all my clients) showing a steady income.

Flight ticket and hotel confirmation email.

Driving licence as proof of current address and location (but was later asked to send another document to prove my current location, such as three months of any utility bill, so I sent my last three mobile phone bills which was accepted).

Key tip: keep your documents in order, make sure all fields are correct, combine into one single PDF with a cover letter at the front and all the supporting documents after that in the order listed above, and keep an eye on emails in case further documents are requested. PM me if you have any queries 😊

Thank You for your helpful report 👍

Congratulations 👏👏👏

PRINT OUT THE EMAIL THAT HAS YOUR DTV VISA.

That's what you should do... print it out.

You may have to show PROOF of your DTV Visa to airline staff on check-in for your flight ✈️ to Thailand...even to the connecting airline staff. Or to the land border crossing entry Thai Immigration Officer.

Upon arrival into Thailand, show the DTV visa to the Thai Immigration Officer and look at the STAMP placed in your passport to be sure you are STAMPED in for 180 days.

Thank you for sharing this information. May I ask, for your flight ticket, how far in advance was your travel date from the date you submitted the application?

Anonymous participant 814 I booked the flight ticket in February for departure on August 10 from London to BKK. I booked the ticket because I was planning to go as a tourist anyway even if the DTV was not approved and just apply again for it later in the year. Thankfully, it was approved so I can travel on the DTV.

ah okay, thank you! One other question: when they asked you to provide additional proof of current location, did they mention any other options you could provide other than the three months of utility bills?

Anonymous participant 814 No, but my driving licence with my current address wasn’t enough. They specifically said three months of utility bills, suggesting gas and electric, but also said “etc” so I sent my phone bills as I don’t pay for gas or electric in my name.

Well done. I merged all my pdf’s into one pdf file and compressed for each section, just used ILovePDF, which was excellent. Keep everything neat and precise 👍
