I thought I would be able to open a bank account before committing to a one year lease for a condo. Do I need a lease to open a bank account with KasikornBank? Finding a condo I'm willing to rent for a year could really eat into the 90-day window to get an extension

TLDR : Answer Summary
The requirement to open a bank account with Kasikorn Bank as a holder of a Non-O visa varies by branch. Some branches may require a lease agreement, while others may accept a residence certificate and a TM30 form from the hotel. Key requirements often mentioned include having a signed TM30, a passport with visa, a recent passport-sized photo, and a Thai phone number. Experiences shared by users indicate that it is possible to open an account without a long-term lease, but it is advisable to visit the specific bank branch to confirm their required documentation.

What do you need to do instead of listening to everybody here whoโs got a new story with different documents itโs just go to whichever branch you decide you wanna open the bank account and ask them what documents they need
Same issues. I'm 3 weeks in with no Condo yet..I got a copy of TM30 receipt hotel fills out. Passport.copies of each plus originals. . 2 passport type photos. E-visa.residence certificate form.Go to information at immigration. They check all your documents and give you a ticket to go to the relevant desk. Queue was big but done in 45minutes.(That was to get hotel residence certified!)
Back after lunch, through information again, another ticket, this time for residence certificate. Again, 40minutes, done. Picked up certificate 2 hours later.
Kasikorn bank next day, passport. Residence certificate. Walked out 40mins later with card, book and app all set up and good to go..seems a hassle to start, but its not too bad really. Come prepared.bring a drink.I played a few games of chess on my phone while moving along the queue .No big deal at all..
Dave Richmond . I went to Pak Nam immigration to get a certificate of residence to get a driving license after doing my 2 day motorbike test. Pak Nam gave me a piece of paper and told me to collect the certificate of residence in 7 days time. Which I did last Thursday
Liam O'connell exactly the same as you pal, 40 minutes in and out after visiting immagration for my residence letter whichwas also about 40 mins in Plaza Mall UBON Ratchathani,
Nev Trower there is no visa stamp in your passport. There only is either an entry stamp, or the stamp of a 1-year extension of the stay permit. Your Non-Imm-O visa is a .pdf document which you should print out. I am amazed that the bank did not require a Thai mobile number and SIM-card registered to your name
I have just opened a Kasikorn account on a 90 day non O visa.
I needed
1, A TM 30 Signed by condo owner
2, Copy of condo owners ID card and copy had to be signed by ID owner
3, My visa
4, My lease agreement signed by owner
5, My passport
6, A recent passport sized photo of myself
7, A Thai phone number registered in my name
I didn't need a certificate of residence
I was in the bank at Bang Bo for about 1.5 to 2 hours
I actually went 2 times to the bank because the first time I attended all my needed documents didn't have the original signature of the condo owner. The documents were photo copies and the bank wouldn't accept photo copied signatures of condo owner
Once you have your 90 day Non-O visa and travel to Thailand go to your local immigration office and ask for a residence certificate, go to a mobile provider and get a SIM registered against your passport, then go to a bank and request they open an account for you. You may have to try a few branches but you should be able to open an account
Requirements varies between branches. Try to show up with a residence certificate and your Non O visa. Several branches accept this for a bank account opening.
David Romero The individual requirements vary between branches. Some require documentation of a longer lease agreement, as they only open accounts for people who can document a longer stay. The requirements for obtaining a residence certificate vary between immigration offices, but it is sometimes possible to obtain one with a simple hotel registration. If you encounter difficulties, using an agent is worth considering. In most cases, they can assist with opening a bank account and RC if needed if you hold a Non O visa.
