Hi guys, i want to live and work in Thailand. Been trying all over Asia and amerika to find another place to be but i am always drawn back to the land of smiles. Are there any tax guys in here that could estimate roughly how much tax i would have to pay to Thailand if i make 95 000 $ USD in my home country, but bring only 45 000 into Thailand every year (through wise, all Credit cards, rent etc) ? I currently dont pay any in come tax so been avoiding living here for more than 180 days, but its now time to settle down somewhere. Thanks for any Advice if you have any.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user is considering moving to Thailand and is inquiring about tax implications for bringing in a portion of their foreign income. The conversation reveals that paying taxes in the home country may satisfy Thai tax authorities concerning the income brought into Thailand. The discussion includes advice to consult a Thai tax expert for precise information and points out that certain visas, such as the LTR visa, may exempt holders from Thai income tax. There are also references to potential misinformation about tax liabilities for foreigners living in Thailand.

Let's see how much tax you are going to pay.

As long as you paid the income tax on the money in your home country at this point Thailand doesn't care. People will talk about the difference in tax rates based on the dual tax treaty with your home country, but at this point Thailand doesn't care, other than the fact you did pay your income tax on the money you bring in. Thailand doesn't care about a few hundred dollar difference. The 180 day tax resident law has been in place for decades, with no interest from Thailand unless you actually worked inside Thailand, and not remotely. This was blown out of proportion by the DTV holders that all of a sudden thought they had to pay Thai taxes if they lived here more than 180 days in a year, even working remotely. As many have found out the revenue offices won't issue them a needed TIN to file Thai taxes because they don't work inside Thailand. If you are Thai it is a whole different story, but nothing has changed for foreigners.

, going to the offices, they tell another story! Every money brought into Thailand the previous year is tax reliable! (Even if you have payd in your home country)

Go and see a Thai tax expert instead of looking for free advice.

Both my sources of retirement are from government so I believe they are exempt but I wouldn’t mind paying my fair share to a country that would be gracious enough to allow me to stay a prolonged period of time. Infrastructure isn’t free. What business would survive giving away merchandise /services for free?

Thanks for the link. I dont mind paying taxes, just need to know roughly how much it would be. If I have to pay full taxes one 90 000 USD every year it might not be worth it
Sharron *******
I have the same thoughts. I also want to see if I bring $18,000.00 a year how much taxes will I pay? Not all at once. $1500.00 a month. and Buy a $100,000.00 condo?😎

you don't have a lot of real friends, do you? Good people can go everywhere. Why are you so xenophobic?

Well, because they'll bring their guns!

@Johnny ********
really? Do you know how difficult it is to smuggle weapons out of a country and into another? For some it may sound easy and it does happen, but not everyone in America has a gun. Stop generalizing about Americans.

@David ********
You might have heard of ghost guns?

Can see ‘why not’ America. Russians are always a red flag.. Get your tourist visa & then explore.

@Dwayne *******
I am an American, but, after Trump, I often spell it amerika. I also noticed the original poster's spelling and I merely approved of his political views. I didn't consider him to be Russian.
Dwayne ********
@Kent *******
ok, stand corrected. Russians spell it like that & lots of them here.
