Just got my DTV from the Thai embassy in Laos

Thanks to everyone in this group for their guidance and advice....

My process that I followed

Getting a Laos visa (as a UK passport holder) - USD 40 if you do VOA (visa on arrival)

Evisa option only available now as all bookings this month are full up

- 6 months bank statements showing THB 500k minimum (lucky I have a Thai bank account

but you can do with your home country bank statements showing the equivalent)

- Proof of residency (copy of lease agreement etc)

- photocopy of your passport BIO page

- photocopy of the Laos visa page (did not know this at the time..lucky photocopy place across the road)

- paperwork from the Muay Thai (fitfac) in Bangkok showing DTV approval

- proof of payment for the Muay Thai classes (photocopy needed)

- THB10000 in cash for the non refundable embassy charge.

Had appointment on the Thursday morning and picked up the visa on the Monday (13:30)

Now taking a bus (from app 12GO) from Vientiene to udon Thani (around thb200)

Feel free to ask any questions..but thanks again to the members of this group for their valuable contributions ...good luck to those going through the process

TLDR : Answer Summary
A UK passport holder shares their successful experience obtaining a DTV visa from the Thai embassy in Laos. They outline the required steps, including acquiring a Laos visa, presenting bank statements showing a minimum of THB 500k, providing proof of residency (like a lease agreement), and submitting various documents related to Muay Thai classes in Bangkok. The poster also notes the embassy appointment process and shares travel tips for crossing from Laos to Thailand.

Just literally gone across the friendship bridge between Laos and Thailand (Mekong river) and the crossing was easy... Thb200 one way via a bus....didn't need to pay any Laos exit fee

I paid 35k thb via fitfac...their legal team knew more about DTV than most and advised me to go to Laos and not Ho Chi Minh as would be really busy

Thanks for posting mate. C

Small Q re 2nd bullet point “copy of lease agreement”

This is just meaning proof of being in the country you’re applying from right? I.e., a ~1 week hotel receipt would suffice?

I think it's wherever you live... You don't generally have to apply from the country you live in (from my understanding) as long as you can provide proof of address...I read before that bank statements /utility bills were ok...I wouldn't think that 1 week hotel receipt would be accepted

Oh. I’ve been in Phuket for 1 year but my bank statements are still addressed to where I lived in UK. Will need to look more into this part as I thought it was just proving you were in the country for long enough, in which case a hotel receipt would have sufficed

Shane bro you don't have a Thai bank account... But try and keep everything as simple as possible...if you have 6 month UK bank statements showing you have 500k thb equivalent and also maybe mortgage letter for your address in the UK?
