Way too many unknowns. Do you live in Thailand? Do you plan to live in Thailand or bring her to your Country? How old are You? How old is she? How long have You known each other? Do you plan to get married in Thailand or another Country? Sounds like You've a lot more things to sort out than just how Thai marriage works. Dated and lived with My Thai wife 7 years before deciding to get married. Highly recommend You do the same, at least a year or two.
This first thing you must get is a notarized right-to-marry document from your embassy. On it there are three options, single never married, divorced, or widowed. For the last two you will need relevant documents, divorce decree, or death certificate. Keep in mind they trust you to list the correct reason, but they don't verify. You get this translated into Thai, and certified as being accurate by the ministry of foreign affairs. Everything else is simply copies of your passport, and copies of her Thai ID card, and a copy of the house book she is listed in. You take all these to your local amphur/ district office, with a witness, and they marry you there, then give you your marriage certificate, and document showing the marriage has been registered. That is all there is to it. Any ceremony with family and maybe monks, is not the actual legal marriage. Have a good life together.
First, I need to ask you: how long have you known her? What is your purpose for marrying her? Is it to get a visa to stay in Thailand? Or do you want to marry her because you truly love her? You need to ask yourself that question first!
Don’t rush into it. Ask yourself why she is waiting. If you have been dating for over a year then fair enough.
Here is an example of too soon. I know a Thai girl and she met a guy online about 2 months ago. Guy is from Europe, 40 and never been married. They met for 5 days while he was on holiday. Now he pays her ฿50k a month and wants to buy a house for her and has asked her to marry him.
This is true story. Only get married if you are really sure. Only get married if you can live together. Long distance marriage is very hard and more likely to fail.
If you need visa to stay in Thailand the retirement path is much easier than the marriage path. Marriage is less financial commitment but more hassle and your life here is totally dependant on the quality of your decision to get married 😜
Absolutely no benefit for a man to get married in today's society unless you stick to the % rule, the % rule is ONLY put the money % of your wealth/income your willing to loose or not get upset with when it fails, people get bored these days, social media and temptation... hope you make the right choice
