TLDR : Answer Summary
To renew a retirement visa in Thailand, you apply for an extension of stay rather than a visa renewal. For the first extension, you need to have 800,000 baht in a Thai bank account for at least two months prior to your application, along with three months of bank statements and an updated bank book. Additionally, you will need a TM30 form, TM7 form, and recent photos. If you are married to a Thai citizen, you may be eligible with 400,000 baht instead. Subsequent extensions will require 12 months of bank statements. It's advisable to check with your local immigration office as requirements can vary.

When everyone says “first extension” are they referring to the extension from 90 day O visa to the 12 months (totaling 15 months) when they first gat here or are they referring to the extension after the first 12 month period?
because it was relevant, he cannot already be on a 12 month Extension of Stay without a bank account so those words clearly states his current status, not on an Extension
Have a word with yourself clown. He can't be on a non o retirement visa without a bank account so your assumption could be wrong.

You don't renew a retirement visa, you apply for an extension of stay. Assuming this will be your first extension you need 800k baht in a thai bank account for 2 full months before you apply for the extension, 3 months worth of bank statements, a letter from the bank, your bank book updated on the day, TM30, TM7, photos
For subsequent extensions you need 12 months of bank statements.

Unfortunately admin on this group has requested that I don’t post a link to my travel blog that covers this question in great detail, based on what I did in February 2025. But good luck. 😳
no, I’m not rewriting my blog post that took me six hours to compile 😝 and the comment section doesn’t have enough space anyway if I wanted to paste the extensive text 🤦🏻♂️
it takes maybe 10 minutes at the most to answer the OPs post, with just the needed details. It's also not good to whine about not being able to promote your blog...lolol
real helpful guy - if that was the case why comment at all, good to see you will seek help but not give it. I will never need or request help from Ex Pats to receive dumb, sarcastic and useless answers from those keyboard warriors

Requirement can vary between immigrations. Best to visit your specific immigration and get handed over their list for applying for a one year extension of stay based on your Non O visa based on retirement.
If you don’t get a affidavit letter from your embassy, you’ll need to prove 800K baht in your account two months prior to your application.

You can't renew a visa, you can apply for an extension. You need 800,000 baht in your bank account
