Hi,

Any report about the border crossing with the fast train from butterworth to Thailand for SETV holder?

My background in detail: UE Passport currently in Indonesia where i got a SETV from Thai Consulate. I spent so far in 2018 4 months and 20 days in Thailand and my last exit was 4 months ago. I have quite an history of VE and extension in 2016 and 2017.

If i understood well the only requirement by land crossing is to show the 20K bath? I will have hotel booking and an exit ticket to vietnam to show as well.

Is the immigration on the train station crosspoint have the same requirement as on the road crosspoint? I'd prefer to take the train but so far haven't found any report of this border crossing.

Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user inquired about crossing the border from Butterworth to Thailand by train while holding a SETV visa. They provided details about their passport status and previous visits to Thailand, questioning if the requirements for land crossing differ at train stations compared to road crossings. Responses indicated that the train station (Padang Besar) has historically had fewer challenges than the road border, and confirmed the cash requirement of 20,000 THB or equivalent for entry.

Ok sounds good (not as good as would have been a flight from Jakarta to Don Mueang but hey...) Thanks

The train border (at Padang Besar) has historically been less difficult than the land border. It's not a through train any more anyway, so if they refuse you you can go out of the station and get money at an ATM.

We had one report that confirms the CASH requirement of 20.000 Thb or equivalent currency. Have a nice trip.
