I will certainly appreciate your helpful insight ! ๐๐ As an American citizen, I plan to apply for O-X visa from Europe, the Thai embassy in France tells me that it would be difficult, if not impossible, because it requires a bank account in Thailand with a Thai bank. And hence, they suggest me first apply for one-year visa with multiple entries, open a bank account in Thailand and afterwards, apply for O-X visa.
However, someone in this group shared earlier that he applied for DTV visa from Vietnam and his foreign bank account worked. And a visa agency in Taiwan tells me a bank account from Taiwan would work. (I'm also a Taiwan citizen)
I need some insights on this, especially as the Thai embassy reminds me that if I fail to submit the exact documents, the *โฌ*350 fee isn't refundable. (the staff is patient with my concerns and super friendly ๐)
Thank you ! ๐๐
TLDR : Answer Summary
An American citizen seeking to apply for an O-X visa from Europe faces significant challenges, particularly the requirement for a Thai bank account. The Thai embassy in France indicates that obtaining the O-X visa may be difficult without this account. Suggestions include first applying for a one-year visa to open a Thai bank account, then applying for the O-X visa. However, previous experiences shared within the community suggest variations, such as applying for other visa types like the DTV from different countries and utilizing foreign bank accounts. There is considerable uncertainty regarding the specific requirements and procedures at different embassies, particularly surrounding document submission and non-refundable fees.
