Hi I am from the USA trying to get a NON-O-X visa. I need to have a Thai bank account so I can have the required money deposited among other things and the bank told me I need to be in Thailand to open one. Some people told me the best way is to just go there with my passport (and whatever covid required pass) and apply for the long stay retirement visa from there. What is your experience?
TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks guidance on obtaining a NON-O-X visa in Thailand and the necessity of opening a Thai bank account. They mention hearing from others that applying for a long-stay retirement visa directly in Thailand might be a viable alternative, given the requirement to have a Thai bank account and the bank's stipulation that they must be in Thailand to open one.
