DTV Soft Power (Muay Thai) – 90-Day Funds Requirement, Bank Statements & Visa Agents
I’m preparing to apply for the DTV under the Soft Power Muay Thai category from the Midwest region of the United States.
I currently have close to $20,000 USD in my bank account, well above the 500,000 THB (approximately $15,000 USD) requirement.
A large deposit of $19,278 was made on August 19, 2026, followed by another deposit of $1,221 on September 3. Before those deposits, my account balance was considerably lower and nowhere near the required amount.
My Thai visa agent advised me that November 19 would be the earliest I could apply based on the 90-day holding period.
However, I’m considering waiting until January because of how my bank statements are structured.
My earlier statements don’t show the full required balance at both the beginning and end of the statement period because the large deposit arrived partway through the August statement cycle. My October statement is the first one that shows the substantial balance at both the beginning and end.
My thinking is to submit three consecutive statements covering October, November, and December, each showing the required funds in both the opening and closing balances.
The problem is that my December statement will likely close sometime in early or mid-December, so it won’t document the entire month. I’d therefore have to wait until January for the statement covering the remainder of December.
My questions:
1. Is the 90-day requirement simply about having the required funds in the account for 90 days before applying, or do they expect three months of bank statements showing the required balance throughout?
2. Would waiting until January and providing October, November, and December statements be a stronger approach?
3. Has anyone actually applied for the Muay Thai DTV and encountered this situation? What did the Thai embassy accept?
I’m honestly torn between applying November 19 as soon as I’m eligible or waiting until January for stronger bank documentation. My concern with waiting is that DTV requirements and enforcement can change, potentially becoming stricter.
There’s also another consideration: I’m looking to leave the US sometime between April 1 and June 2027 at the latest. If I apply and receive the five-year DTV in November, I’m essentially using up several months of the five-year validity before I even leave the country. That’s making me question whether waiting a little longer makes sense, although I don’t want to risk running into stricter requirements.
One other question: Has anyone used Issa Compass for their DTV application? Was it worth paying an agent to handle the process, or would you recommend applying independently? I’d appreciate hearing about actual experiences with them.
Thanks!
