Can I start the DTV application at the embassy before receiving the DTV letter from my Muay Thai school?

Is it possible to start the DTV application at the embassy before getting the DTV letter from the Muay Thai School?

[Edit: I had a confusion about the gyms recommendation letter and the recommendation letter of the board of boxing.

I did pay the school already, but they said I have to wait 3-4 weeks for the DTV letter. Now I understand that the school refers to the letter of the board of boxing, while most other applicants get a letter from the gym itself, which might be sufficient for an application]

My thinking: the embassy anyways will request additional documents. The Muay Thai School in Bangkok told me it will take up to 1 month for the ministry of sports to emit the DTV letter. So why not already start the process to sort out all other unexpected requirements? 🤔

I'm not sure if they will accept my application anyways, since I already stayed roughly 6 months in thailand on visa exemptions & extensions. Plus I have no proof of income, but I transfer money every month to my own travel account (wise), which I hope can sirve as "income".

Or is applying early a silly idea?

Oh, and is it normal that the school or ministry of sports send the DTV letter directly to the embassy?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The consensus among commenters is that it is not advisable to start the DTV application at the embassy without having received the complete documentation from the Muay Thai School, specifically the DTV letter. Most suggest waiting until all necessary documents, including those from the gym, are ready, as submitting an incomplete application can lead to rejection and potential loss of fees. There are also concerns that starting the application too early may lead to automatic deletion if it remains inactive for too long.

The fee is nonrefundable. You are taking the risk of losing your money if you don't have everything in place, and meet all requirements. The consolates have limited staff to process these applications and they don't have time to hold your hand through the process. If you give them everything they require in the original application, they won't need to ask for further documents and you will be approved sooner.

The requirement of having a job for a visa that doesn't allow me to have a job irritates me a lot. Just how? How does this work?

Anonymous participant simply...you cannot work for any company providing goods and services to those who are in Thailand.

... PERIOD 🩸

so I am required to have remote job for at least 6 months. And that it's completely legal to do remote work with a soft power DTV (which explicitly states: does not allow to work)?

... PMS 🤪

to me it's just highly confusing. I would love te be able to answer it myself, but I really struggle to understand it.

From what I understand so far I definitely need a job for at least 6 months to apply for a soft power DTV visa (fulfilling the requirements of payslips), but it needs to be a remote job for a foreign conpany.

And so far I understand that without a remote job for a foreign company that generated payslips for at least 6 months, there is simply no way to get a soft power DTV visa...

Well, now I know... as another group expert advised me: just give up. 😪

Anonymous participant not all of the Thai Embassy's or Consulates require proof of your earnings. Read the posts about getting the DTV visa on this forum... talk with the soft power activity provider to get their suggestions for where it is best to apply for the DTV visa.

Do not hit the submit button until all the documents are attached and uploaded and you are in the country you wish to apply from. You can start an application, filling out the form and uploading documents about 10 days before you are ready to submit. If you start the application too early and it lies dormant for 2 weeks it will be deleted automatically.

oh, thanks for the reminder that I can start the application online but wait with submitting it.

Considering you'll need the gym documentations to first see if you qualify for the dtv, i doubt they'll look at any of the other documents you submitted. Whenever they ask for more documentations, it pushes your application back to the end of the line anyway so I would just wait to have everything before applying

No, you need to have it ready at the time of application

The Muay Thai gym should be able to provide the letter instantly unless this is their first DTV application?

@Dan ******
invite letter yes but the personal letter from the board of Boxing sports takes ages. We dint bother with it now and most embasdys dont ask for it if you bombard them with certification. But yea in theory there is a system in place where the board of Boxing sport writes individual letters.

that's good to know. Thanks for that piece of information.

And that individual letter from the board of boxing, that will be sent directly to the embassy? Or should it also be possible to receive that letter personally?

Anonymous participant the gym gets it ... usually about a week after the embassy has closed the application ha ha ha

I need to proof an income to get a visa that doesn't allow me to work. That sounds like the perfect plot to charge me for illegal activities on the first day of arrival 🤣🤣

Yeah, but I get what you mean. I will probably try it anyway, but I'm fully aware that it's mainly luck if I get approved or not, because of the income requirements that the KL embassy puts on soft power applicants. ... and because it's KL of course...

You’re about to loose 10.000+ baht visafee.

sure, but getting a visa for vietnam, paying the flight to vietnam and renting an accommodation in vietnam while I already have paid for one in KL also makes me lose money. Probably more than 10k baht.

In the end everything costs money. I already learned to accept that fact, so it won't ruin my day...

But, of course, if you have a better idea, I absolutely appreciate all good inputs.

I could try with a tourist visa, and then ED visa. But would it work after staying 6 months on visa exemptions already?

And how big is the chance that I get a tourist visa, but the immigration officer at the airport refuses me anyways?

You’re looking for loopholes.

Hm, but what would be the best way?

To my understanding the requirement of payslips for the past 6 months would mean I should get employed for 6 months, then apply for the visa, and as soon as I get it I would have to quit that job because the soft power DTV doesn't allow me to work.

Serious question: what options do you see to solve my dilemma? Without searching loopholes...

Just give it up.

Don't submit your application until you have the approval from the gym. You'll just have your application rejected
