What are the requirements for applying for a visa related to taking care of Thai children while on a tourist visa extension?

Hi everyone,

I am an idiot and have made an error - I thought I had to have LESS than 15 days remaining on my tourist visa 30 day extension before applying for my 'taking care of Thai kids' visa with my wife :-/

I even set the reminder for tomorrow based on this. Damn.

I will go to immigration with my wife tomorrow to see what they say. I also planned to get the bank letter tomorrow but not sure if it's even worth that now (it's an hour away to the branch I opened the account at).

Will have to see what the immigration officer says tomorrow.

Just thought I'd warn others not to be as silly as me...

TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster mistakenly believed they needed less than 15 days remaining on their tourist visa extension to apply for a visa associated with caring for Thai children. It was clarified by a commenter that they need 15 days or more left on their current visa to apply. Additionally, there's an option for a 60-day family extension which may be applicable depending on the individual’s situation during their visit. The post serves as a cautionary tale for others regarding visa rules and requirements.

you need 15 days or MORE days left on your stamp.

SO no need to get the bank letter or anything like you were going to do for the Non-O visa

How about applying for a 60 day visit thai family extension for 1900baht? You can do that one time per entry so if you haven't gotten it this entry you should be okay.

you are far from the first person to have this happen and the 60 day visit thai family extension is an option

OR

bouncing out and back in by a land border to get on a new 45 day visa exempt entry stamp is also another option if they don't let you get the 60 day extension <- which they should allow no problem.
