TLDR : Answer Summary
To obtain a 60-day extension to visit your wife in Thailand, you need to have your marriage registered in Thailand if it hasn't been done already. Specifically, you will need to provide one passport photo, a copy of your marriage certificate, a copy of your wife's ID card, a copy of her Blue housebook, and copies of your passport ID page, visa page, the "Admitted until" stamp, and the TM6 Departure card. Your wife must be present during the application process, and there is a fee of 1,900 THB.

Visit the Amphur where you live, and ask the document. They print out, if asked twice if needed. I paid 20 Thb for 2 print outs.

Your Thai marriage certificate does not expire, but Immigration want to know if your marriage is still de jure and de facto, so they ask a up to date copy of the Kor Ror 2, that your marriage is still registered.

I also visited the municipalitioffice here to have the procedure for the registration confirmed. They confirmed this and based of their knowledge confirmed this as the requirement for the extension of the stay, they said they had several such cases.

But, they also promised me the yellow houseregistration and a ID-card.

Other than that they was very kind and welcoming.

The foreing marriage certificate must bu legalised by foreign affairs, yes, that is something different than register a marriage at the local Amphur.

Robert Lagas interesting, that is what they currently force me to do. That's Pracin Buri, so another example of different rules in each district.

For the VISA on the embassy it was enough with my countrys registration. But not on the immigrationoffice here.

To have it registered I am forced to have a signed and stamped proof from my embassy. This together with the original certificate needs translation and legalisation at Thai foreign ministry and than handed over to the municipality office. Then I am allowed to have the extension of the stay.

I was in Bangkok last Tuesday to initiate the processing of this.
