What are the options for obtaining a DTV in Thailand, and how do processing times vary by embassy?

Hello, I have a few questions, and maybe some of you can help me:

1. I'm looking for the cheapest soft power activity/course that can grant me the letter for the DTV.

Do you have any contacts or suggestions?

2. Which embassy has been the smoothest in your experience with the fastest processing time?

I’m willing to fly anywhere.

3. Is it possible to fly in and out as many times as we want with the DTV?

Thank you for taking the time to read this. Even if you can answer just one of these points, it would be really helpful. 🙏

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about the cheapest soft power activities to obtain a letter for the DTV visa, asks for experiences with embassies regarding processing times, and seeks clarification on the entry rules for the DTV visa. Responses indicate that authorities are stricter about soft power activity relevance, with a specific course costing 10,000 baht mentioned. The UK embassy was noted for its efficiency in issuing visas, and it was confirmed that the DTV visa allows for multiple entries over five years.

1. This course is 10K baht. See link below.

2. London was good for me and UK is third in the issued list of countries.

3. Yes it's a 5 year multiple entry visa and not just for digital nomads.

Looking for the cheapest soft power package suggests that you aren't genuinely interested in any specific soft power activity or the true purpose of the DTV visa. Extensions within Thailand now require new documents that demonstrate ongoing participation in the selected activity. Therefore, I would advise caution when selecting the length and type of soft power program, as authorities are becoming stricter with individuals who approach it this way.

Anonymous participant 483 Scaremongering without any hard facts. Nobody knows what will happen in the future. Do you really think that the border IOs are going to have time to check everyone's paperwork supporting their ongoing DTV option? It would be too time-consuming. Presently, I have a DTV, and I have never been asked for additional proof of ongoing courses or been asked any questions.

Anonymous participant 476 Have you even read what I’ve written? I recommended that the person carefully consider the length and type of activity, as these are hard facts for declined visas due to such reasons, as well as news about extension requirements. You're focusing on your DTV that you’ve just obtained and seem unaware that other visa holders are sometimes getting checked—hard facts. Spreading the news that people will never get checked within their 5 years because it’s "time-consuming" is not a fact.

Anonymer Teilnehmer 483 pretty sure they will even want to see the proof for soft power activity when entering the country. as soon as they see that you went with the soft power category. not now but in the future this is very likely.

nothing required when entering Thailand you have the visa so you just show it and you are stamped for 180 days. There are no questions at all. Just border bounce every 180 days for 5 years.

who says that it will remain that way? pretty sure it will change over time… same as it was with the ED where people were questioned more and more in recent years. its always up to the officer / immigration and they can do what they want. having a visa isnt a 100% guarantee for entering a country.

why you even thinking like that? Why was the visa created not to keep people out or make it difficult that's for sure. You are only guessing so don't even bother commenting if you don't know. When l got my DTV there were like 200 others doing the same. This is exactly what the government wants people in Thailand to spend money this will improve economy recovery. Yes they may restrict in the future if they want but if you have the visa for 5 years enjoy it.

@David *******
Exactly, it's as if some people are wishing it to get harder so only digital nomads are allowed in. Sad.

it standard in Thailand expats don't want anyone getting it better than them. I say it should be as easy as possible for all share more it's a big place enjoy our life here don't live in fear

@Dany *******
They don't know unless it says in the remarks on the visa.

@Sean ******
how do you know that they dont know? they have your visa in their system and would not even have to look on your document. + they could ask you a few questions. pretty sure it wont be as smooth in the future

@Dany *******
I've only seen one with Workation on the visa. Maybe they know you have a DTV or maybe they don't. There's been reports of people being stamped in visa exempt when they haven't shown it.

@Sean ******
Yes, as you mentioned, they know you have a DTV without even asking for the documents. Could additional details also be included? No one knows yet.
Sean *******
Anonymous Participant Except many people have re entered already without being asked so as of now this is the norm.

Perhaps, but no one really knows what's in their system. It's their job to control borders, and such information could be useful to them. E-visas facilitate the exchange of information between government entities even more efficiently.
