, I have now been treated at 2 of my local hospitals in Kalasin district and charged 30 baht for spinal treatment and meds showing them my pink farangThai I'D card, so obviously some hospitals accept it

My last treatment was 2 weeks ago and only had the Thai I'D 1 year, so it sounds like I'm just very lucky... apart from being a cripple ofcourse. Haha

either they misunderstood the purpose of the card or you used to work here a long time ago when foreigners were covered under the 30 baht scheme. That pink foreign i/d card doesn't qualify you for anything health wise.

Common problem here. I have heard many stories of the wonders of the yellow book and the pink ID card. None of them are true.

Having a yellow book means you're just a foreigner that lives here, and if you're talking about that i/d card for foreigners in thailand it doesn't provide anything other than a form of identification.

You get no special breaks on medical costs. As other posters said, unless you have health insurance you pay what everyone else does.
