Has anyone extended Non O-A visa at Changwattana in the last few weeks? what is their requirement of the insurance? Is it 3Millions or still the same as last year 40K/400K. If 3 millions can overseas insurance be used as we have Cigna Global (not Cigna Thailand) policy covered of USD1million. We have tried to find information all over the web but no success. Even the insurance companies on [members only] cant give us a firm answer and suggest us to check with the immigration office. We are super stress so any helps is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

TLDR : Answer Summary
The insurance requirements for extending a Non O-A visa at Changwattana have reportedly not changed recently. The current requirement appears to be that the insurance must cover at least 3 million THB. Those considering using an overseas insurance policy, like Cigna Global, need to have the policy issuer complete and sign the Foreign Insurance Certificate to satisfy immigration requirements.

If you are submitting your own insurance policy from an insurer outside of Thailand...

such as your Cigna policy...you will need to have Cigna complete and sign the Foreign Insurance Certificate.

James Miller. For extension in Thailand at this stage it has to be a local insurer as listed on the TGIA website

that is the confusing part of all this change with the OA insurance.

Newly issued can use any insurer Thai or foreign...that can complete the Foreign Insurance Certificate.

Renewals/extensions of existing expats on the OA based retiremebt are to use the Thai insurers until Oct 2022.

Although...we wait to see if an immigration office would accept the foreign insurance certificate now for an extension.

James Miller. Mine is due in the near future and a buddy went to CW to extend his non-O end of last week and I asked him to get the latest on the OA direct from the horse's mouth. He reported that extensions will remain unchanged until October and that the insurance has to be in the immigration database (hence those from TGIA). They are unaware of what will happen after October.

Thanks, that is great information to have. Only wish that information was on the immigration website.

Sandy Bien. Often the only way to get the correct information is to go to your immigration office and ask for it, as some operate with subtle differences. I actually believe the OA insurances from next October will become more competitive as the 40k outpatient component has been removed, and this is what caused many insurers and insured great angst, as immigration would not accept "unlimited" values but needed to have the 40k specified

To my knowledge, the requirements for the Non-OA healthcare insurance has not changed.
