Just need some clarification with applying for a DTV using soft power Muay Thai. I am planning on applying from Ho Chi Minh and I heard that you still need to provide proof of income?! I am confused because why bother going down the soft power approach if I need work requirements anyway? Is it only HCMC that is like this?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The application process for a DTV visa using the soft power approach in Thailand, particularly when applying from Ho Chi Minh City, requires clarification on income proof. While applicants in Hanoi may not need to prove income, it seems that HCMC often asks for it to ensure they can support themselves while training in Muay Thai. Most applicants recommend providing a simple cover letter explaining your financial situation if you are unemployed, as this is usually accepted without thorough investigation. Requirements may vary by embassy and individual circumstances.
It depends on the embassy and your profile. They want to see that you can support yourself here, since you’re applying under a Soft Power visa and not a workation. The 500k is a requirement, and income or other financial proof could (or not) be required.
Seems like HCM do ask about your income if you tick unemployed. The good news is they pretty much accept any reasonable and genuine answer you give with regard to where your money is coming from. A simple cover letter honestly explaining your financial situation is normally accepted without further investigation. So its not tge same as applying for workation where they are more forensic about your income.
