Hello,

Has anyone successfully obtained the Non-Immigrant OX 5-Year Retirement Visa? If so, could you kindly share your experiences, tips, and advice? Additionally, does applying through an agent or law firm offer any advantages for the applicant?

Thank you.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around obtaining the Non-Immigrant OX 5-Year Retirement Visa for Thailand. Users share mixed experiences, highlighting that while some have been successful, it often requires specific conditions, especially when applying outside of the Sydney consulate. Others express that they chose alternatives like the DTV visa due to its easier application process and fewer requirements. There's also a query about the advantages of using an agent or law firm for the application.

After carefully considering 3 visa types that I was eligible for (US Citizen, live in NYC): O-A (I've been on this twice before), O-X (was interested this since its a 5 year visa), and the DTV...I settled on the DTV: easy to get (if one qualifies), no mandatory health insurance, and fewer docs (than O-A or O-X). O-X requires a balance in a Thai account..kinda hard (albeit not impossible since I have a Bangkok Bank account) to set this up from the US.

How about just plain Non–O based on over 50 years old E–Visa??

Unless you’re applying through the Sydney consulate it’s probably not a visa you’re going to get or qualify for. There have been instances where people have got one but very few and far between unless using Sydney.

If the applicant is a British national with valid health insurance and has a deposit of 3,000,000 THB (or the equivalent amount internationally) in bank account. Could you please advice what are the obstacles or challenges in qualifying for and obtaining the visa?

@Mee *********
It's not (or the equivalent amount internationally). The reason no one gets this visa is because you must have 3 million in a THAI bank account to apply, unless you're Australian and applying through the Sydney consulate.

Understood. The requirement to have 3 mil THB in Thai bank is the issue regardless of where or which consular(London/Sydney) you apply the visa from?
Brandon ************
@Mee *********
no. EVERY Thai embassy requires it to be in a Thai bank EXCEPT the consulate in Sydney. But you cannot apply there if you're not Australian.

@Mee *********
because, unless applying via Sydney, the 3 mill must already be in a Thai bank account

Yes, you are right. Got the information from Royal Thai embassy in London.

Financial evidence with fixed deposit of no less than 3,000,000 THB or no less than 1,800,000 THB together with monthly income of no less than 1,200,000 THB per year in Thai bank located in Thailand

- Your bank statement of Thai bank, showing your name with a minimum of fix deposit of THB 3,000,000 remained in your account for no less than one year. UK and other national bank account are not accepted.

@Lynnette ******
no it’s not.

There are a number of countries that can apply for a Non O-X visa.

@Nigel *******
people have shared different info on it. So perhaps the applicant will report back on how they got on applying in London.
