Has anyone had crowns fitted in Bangkok? I'm visiting Thailand in October and I'd like to get a full set, depending on cost. I would like to know about anyones experiences and cost of the procedure.

Also, what grade of crown did you go for? Are you happy with that decision?

Thanks, Dan.

TLDR : Answer Summary
This forum discussion revolves around the experiences of individuals who have had dental crowns fitted in Bangkok. Many users share their personal experiences with various clinics, highlighting the importance of researching clinics and reading reviews before making a decision. Users mention specific clinics such as Bangkok Smile Dental, Thantakit Dental Clinic, and Asavanant Clinic, noting their satisfaction with the treatment received. The costs for dental work in Thailand are discussed, with comparisons to prices in other countries, indicating that while Thailand may not be the cheapest option, it can still be more affordable than in places like the UK or Australia. Several comments suggest that dental prices can be similar across practices, particularly those catering to expats, and it may not be worth extensive shopping around for the best price.

Thailand is never particularly low-priced for dental treatment, though it is cheap as against UK. I have had work done in Turkey, Malta and Thailand with Thailand by far the most expensive. Prices are also very similar practice to practice in Thailand, perhaps practices specialising in expats and dental tourists a bit more expensive, but only a little. It tends to not be worth the effort shopping around too much.

I agree. It doesn't cheap to me either. $700AUD per tooth for full ceramic doesn't make up for the lack of aftercare when you leave the country.

I work with different International Hospitals in Bangkok. The price depends on the material, your teeth condition, etc.

I had crowns fitted at Asavanant Clinic, Sukhumvit last year and pleased with their service. Going back next for a general check up.

I had 22 crowns and veneers done during covid. I'm quite happy and I used Bangkok Smile Dental on sukhumvit Soi 5.

I read a lot of reviews and went to a couple of dentists for consultations before making a decision.

Most big dentists have all their prices online so you can see how much it will cost yourself.

is a crown the same as an implant I am really confused here

a crown goes over a little bit of what is left of a tooth. Kind of a nub.

An implant involves drilling into your jaw bone and implanting a device that a crown is attached to because there's no tooth there.

That's the bit that makes me hesitant. If they all fall off/need replacing in say, 10 years, but I can't afford to do that, then I'll be left with a load of useless stumps for teeth.
Brandon ************
@Da *******
yes. They all have an expected life. Generally between 10-20 years. So you must that into account. I already had a lot of crowns and needed additional work so for me it wasn't a huge risk but definitely a consideration.

22 crowns, holy fuck

more than a few were veneers, but I already had multiple crowns from about 20 years ago that were replaced as well to match the rest of the work I had done. It was a long exhausting process but the resulta are amazing.

Cheers mate. I've seen some prices and they don't seem that cheap to me. My brother, who lives in the UK just got back from Turkey and had 28 crowns done for around 115 quid per tooth. Thailand prices are way more than that which is quite surprising to me, so I was just after confirmation. Also I wanted to find out if there are any hidden costs they hit you with, that aren't displayed on their websites. Cheers 👍🏻

i researched getting my crowns, root canal work down in London or Birmingham quoted 2200-2700GBP v 42,000 THB i paid in Bangkok. Prices have gone up in Thailand over the year as elsewhere due to the rise in material costs. No hidden costs with the dentist i used but you do need to research as there are shady clinics as anywhere else.

I didn't have any hidden costs, but they were also desperate for customers when I had mine done. You'd just need to consider if there's anything else you may need. Possible a retainer if you grind your teeth or things like that, that might add to the cost.
