There was a post a while ago about a South African having trouble at the Kanchanaburi border with visa run. The theory was that the problem is with Myanmar. Just an update: I had zero problems at Mae Sai.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion focuses on the recent experiences of South Africans performing visa runs at Mae Sai and Kanchanaburi borders. While a previous post indicated issues for South Africans at Kanchanaburi, one commenter reported no problems at Mae Sai. Additional comments inquire about travel details, overnight stays, and border charges, indicating interest in the visa run process.

Mae sai very easy, get a bottle of honey and strawberry wine for the ride home, 55, some nice places to visit too take 2 days exploring
Ivor Paul how and from where did you travel? Did you have to stay overnight? Did you need to show any money and what is the charge at the border? Sorry for all the questions i don't know if you remember we talked a couple of weeks ago. I need to go end of this month. I just have to work out what is the best way for me maybe Malaysia again as it is a bit closer for me. From hua hin.

B to Myanmar immigration no need to stay overnight can return literally 5 minutes later.
From Hua Hin nearer Myanmar borders would be Kanchanaburi (problem for SA but not you) or Ranong. These are a bit more expensive as you need a service to take you over but nothing crazy.
