TLDR : Answer Summary
The border near Kanchanaburi is open on weekends, operating with consistent hours similar to weekdays. However, people should be aware that they will not receive a visa at this border, only a visa 'bounce' or exemption.

Borders don't close on weekends and run the same opening hours every day of the week.

I'd say plan on being there between 9 and 5 and you'd be okay.

from 06 to 09:30 they are busy with mostly border runner from Laos and Vietnam, after that no problem, if you turn up yourself they will direct you to a small hut in front of Immigration, pay THB960 and they do all the paperwork, after that they will take you in a van to Myanmar side to stamp in/out, than back to Thai Immigration. If you have a valid Thai Visa, just make sure you double check the visa number and entry stamp.

you don't need a visa

you get a day pass when you go to that border, it costs 960 baht I think to get you driven across the no-mans land from thailand to burma, stamped in and out of burma then driven back to stamp into thailand

It's open in the weekends, but you wont get a visa there, only a bounce or an exemption
