4.5 hours at cm airport immigration to do oa retirement extension not including a 2hr run home from 11 to 1 waiting for the i.o. to process 10 longstays and have lunch, for a total of 6.5 hours ... this year they wanted every page of bankbooks copied ..bank letter done on same day, and had 3 new 1 page forms to confirm knowledge of covid situation ... well sealed plastic film put up to protect staff from the customers also protects the customers from the aircon so it was really hot in the waiting area with all the windows open and 39 degree temps in cm city

TLDR : Answer Summary
The author shares their experience of a lengthy 6.5-hour process at Chiang Mai airport immigration for an OA retirement visa extension. They noted new requirements this year, including the necessity to copy every page of the bank book and submit additional forms regarding COVID-19. The immigration office had implemented protective measures, which made the waiting area uncomfortably hot.

Just so you're clear
@Mi**
, the reason they want all the pages of the bank book copied are because of the changes to the requirements when using banked money for a yearly extension based on retirement.

You need to have the 800K baht in the bank 2 months before you apply for the yearly extension, it needs to stay IN the account for 3 months after you get the extension and then the balance can't go below 400K for the rest of the year <- that's why they want all those bank book pages. They are looking to see that you kept the 800K baht in the account for 3 months after you got your extension last year and checking to see that the balance didn't go below 400K the rest of the year.

It's common now for immigration offices to ask for that much documentation using banked money method on retirement extensions

Glad you got it, (y) Lucky it was a slow day at the immigration office :P

Thanks for the update. In case anyone is wondering, CM is Chang Mai, and the immigration office is at the airport.

I'm closing comments.
