What are the chances of getting a visa for digital nomads compared to traditional options like Muay Thai courses in Thailand?

1. Is the digital nomad way of applying for this visa way more likely to be successful than the soft power muay thai?

2. Once I show an income stream monthly to get the visa, do they continue to check that income stream for the 5 years?

3. How many snotty comments you think I'll get on this post for asking a simple question?
Answer summary
The conversation discusses the likelihood of obtaining a visa for digital nomads versus engaging in traditional activities like Muay Thai courses. Participants note that while fulfilling all requirements is crucial, the two applications cannot be combined. Once issued, the visa typically does not require continued checks on income, but different rules may apply when extending the visa or re-entering Thailand. There's also commentary on potential skepticism towards the nature of such visa approvals.

The one thing they want to see, and base lots of their decisions on, is how long you've owned the company, in some cases, or how long you've worked where you are now working. Over one year is looked on favorably. Under that they usually want to see your latest income tax filing. They do know all the ways people use trying to scam the system, just to get the visa, because you don't have to prove anything after you get jt.

The chances of being approved are equal if you are fulfilling all the requirements

Strange isn't it? Was it only yesterday a contributor was adamant that, most recently, we are reading about more WorkCation applications being approved than Soft Power. When I asked how he knew this he didn't answer. Goes to show what some people post is either rubbish or just trolling.

Just understand just because you work online doesn't automatically mean the embassy will recognise you do.

I am an online English teacher. Top 2% earner on my platform, they have asked for extra proof that I work onlime even though I sent them my teaching profile which is active with bookings.

I think it would be, “I am an online English teacher.” I would make sure that the letter you write has no grammatical errors, if possible.

If you're self employed you could have wrote a letter from your business stating that "you" written as your full name is legally authorized to work remotely. It's the same letter an employer would write for you, but in this case you are your employer and that's what they're looking for.

Once the visa is issued, no further checks or requirements apply. However, if you apply for an in-country extension, you will need to provide all documentation and evidence again.

I would imagine that immigration always has the ability to verify that you meet the visa requirements each time you enter. They may, or may not, possess the actual authority but they always have the ability.

With that said, not meaning the financial requirements means you could 'potentially' be at risk of being denied entry if they ask the right question.

I don't think anybody could give a realistic probability that that would happen. It would exist as an unquantifiable risk.

they MIGHT ask you proof of ongoing courses when re entering.

They MIGHT ask for 20k cash, proof of accommodation, and an onward flight within the initial 180 days because those are the official entry rules when using a tourist visa. Strange though it is, proving you are still attending the course for which the visa was issued has never been an entry rule. Why they issued a 5-year visa for a 6-month course is beyond my comprehension, but that is what they did. Unlike an Ed-visa, there is no obligation to attend your course or book ongoing courses, which is also quite ridiculous.

Just like the other requiremnts they can check the specific DTV requirements.

They issue a 5 year visa so people do not have to apply for a new visa when the first part of their training ends.

When people stop training they don't need the visa anymore and it should not be used for other purposes.

The fact that Immigration checks for all requirements when you extend in the country is a clear sign all requirements are still in place.

If you plan to work remotely from Thailand then apply under the Workation option

Any of them are OK IF you meet all the requirements fully 🤔

It depends on what you qualify for…… you wouldn’t be very successful applying for remote work if you didn’t remote work.

However ,

If you applied under remote work with all the qualifications etc , and also booked a 9 month softpower course this would be a home run…

KnowledgeableRaccoon5198 not really, as when you apply you need to choose only one. You can't apply using remote job AND soft power at the same time.

Yeah I know that 🤦🏽 what I’m saying is if you applied as a remote worker and additionally had soft power courses booked would be beneficial.

The same as them asking about income when people apply for softpower ….

KnowledgeableRaccoon5198 what about going through a cooking course and that company does the initial application for you and you pay a fee. Is that likely to be successful?

KnowledgeableRaccoon5198 actually I think we've seen that the opposite is true where people confused their application through both soft power and digital nomad paperwork and got refused.

I’m not suggesting anyone to go and buy a softpower courses, but if they were going to do cooking or Muay Thai as a hobby anyway it wouldn’t hurt hommie.

KnowledgeableRaccoon5198 You appear to be making things unnecessarily complicated and encouraging Dove to waste his money. If he is a digital nomad then that is the way to apply.
