Oh my god, will this ever end?…

I’ve had problems filling in the application for my tourist visa from start, and got the application back because some documents were not accepted. I then completed them and thought I was finally finished and that I would get approval by the middle of next week.

Now I realize that there might be a problem; my flight tickets (Turkish Airways) does not have my middle name (as it’s spelled in the passport), however I spoke to the airline and that doesn’t matter to them but the embassy might find this a reason to reject?

I’m so tired of worrying over this, just want to enjoy my plans for the vacation. Sorry for the whining..😩
Answer summary
The user expresses frustration with the tourist visa application process, particularly regarding a name discrepancy on flight tickets that might affect visa approval. Users in the comments provide various perspectives, suggesting that the embassy may not care about such discrepancies if other documents match. They also highlight general dissatisfaction with the new visa regulations and the added stress they bring to travelers. Suggestions include using an agent to simplify the process and reassurance that airlines may not need consistent middle name details.

Correct with your airline ticket, must be the same as what's in your passport

I don't think they even care., they just want to see dates on your ticket reservation that it will not be over the visa.

Just come and get the exemption tourist day given 15, 30 or 60, upon arrival at airport.

Assuming one of these is for you?

I've never had immigration ask to see my plane ticket stub on my way through.

As long as your passport name matches your portal application name (including middle name or not) then 3rd party support docs shouldn't matter if middle name is missing like airlines, bank accounts etc. which may not necessarily publish middle names in their docs/portals etc.

Graeme Buxton That is my experience also.

Some people say"just get a visa". But that is a huge difference to planning trips where you don't need a visa. The documentation, the waiting, the uncertainty. And the additional cost. That's why the Thai reduction in visa free stay will turn many visitors away.

Lars-Göran Ingvarsson there are not many genuine tourists that will stay longer than the 30 + 30 extension (60 days total per entry) still granted for visa exempt entries. This only impacts a small segment of people that planned to stay between 61-90 days within a visa exempt single entry as allowed under the old rules.

Pui Suu Also the extension is a bureaucratic hassle that most people want to avoid. And there are hundreds of thousands of retirees from cold countries that want to spend 2-3 winter months in a warmer place. We belong to them.

Pui Suu correct BUT not every retired expats can create and download PDF files for required bank statements, my partner being one of them. Those born in the '50 don't all live on phones and technology, completing a form and visit embassy would be a welcome alternative for them, or at least response to emails. I also know young people who only use phone for contact, not for filing applications. The other worrying thing is no indication given when visa is rejected so where do we improve to re apply?

Pui Suu The 10% affected (according to your statistics) of course generate much, much more than 10% of the income from tourism, due to their much longer stay.

But we could keep on arguing all night. The decision is made, so let's just wait and see the outcome.

Sylvia Corley anyone that involved in Thailand would hardly find the simple and inexpensive application for a tourist visa to be a significant burden to entering Thailand. Plus there are several other longer term visas more appropriate for someone who owns cars or condos or builds their own home in Thailand or send their children to school in Thailand than a tourist visa, which is not intended for long term stays. People using tourist visas for that purpose are exactly who the government rightly is cracking down on.

Pui Suu I have seen these figures published and I also read that Thailand would like high spending 2 week tourists. BUT they forget how much the winter 5 to 6 months long stay spend here, many have partners and pay the children schooling, buy cars/condo or build a house for the partner, Then festivals, parties, regular restaurant visits and for many also medical private care so it all generates income to the economy

Lars-Göran Ingvarsson Your situation hardly is typical of the real official statistics for international visitors to Thailand. According to the Thai government, the average international visitor stays between 9-10 days, and 90% of visitors stay under 30 days, 9% stay between 31-60 days, and only 1% stay between 61-90 days. Therefore you are in the teeny tiny 1% that are affected by this change in visa exempt entry length. You're using your very niche situation and assuming it applies to more than a minuscule percentage of people coming to Thailand.

Anna Persson If they do, its no fly simple as that, the airlines i fly with pulled me up about it and told me that if immigration see its not the same as your passport, they will deny boarding, thankfully the airline reprinted mine with the same as my passport

@Kyle *******
That has nothing to do with the question. This is about the embassy and a visa application. If the airline already said they're fine, then they can fly
