Any suggestions for a fast, reliable, and reasonably priced translation service near the US embassy? Looking for translation plus delivery to the Thai MFA. I know there are many around the embassy...and if they're all the same, then great...but is there any consensus around the best? Thx in advance! And please provide their location if you can!

TLDR : Answer Summary
If you're looking for a fast, reliable, and reasonably priced translation service near the US embassy in Thailand, several options have been recommended. Express Translation, located on the right-hand side under Ploen Chit, has received positive feedback for accuracy and reliability. Additionally, the Trendy Building on Sukhumvit Soi 13 is filled with translation shops, which offer comprehensive services including document delivery to the MFA. It's important to check the accuracy of the translations, especially for personal details like names, before submitting them to avoid delays with the MFA.

Express translation first place on RHS under Ploen Chit. No errors on mine. I was going to use their service to take to MFA but had some issues with documents so ended up going to MFA to sort out but their translation was spot on and good advice.

Also the entire ground floor of the Trendy Building on Sukhumvit Soi 13 is choc-a-block full of translation shops too. :)

Do make sure that the thai translation of your name is as close to the actual pronunciation as you can get. A brit friend of mine named Sean (pronounced Shawn) is now ซีน <- (Seen) in thai :O

Always worth checking their work before it goes off to the MFA. My affirmation of freedom to marry was incorrect (they put that I have no children from a previous marriage, which is probably the 'standard' line) and my affirmation was rejected by the MFA supervisor's office. Luckily I took it there myself so I was able to sort it out, but that did add a few hours to the whole thing!

Obviously you'll need someone who can read Thai, and English, in order to do that :)

Actually, my point was about checking the translation before it goes to the MFA, It doesn't really matter how it gets there if it's correct :)

For me we are registering our US marriage in Thailand. But I've heard of similar stories...like translating the wrong city...thus my desire to find a good translator. But your point about delivering it myself is taken. Thanks!

There is a whole bunch of them over by the Ploen Chit BTS station in Mahatun Plaza. Most of them have an all in price where they will translate the document, take it to the MFA for certification and mail it to you when they're done.
