Can anyone help with regards to recommendations for health insurance for expat over 70ss
Answer summary
The conversation revolves around health insurance recommendations for expats over 70 years old in Thailand. Responses suggest self-insuring or directly paying for medical expenses, citing distrust in insurance companies due to potential exclusions for pre-existing conditions. Some individuals share their experiences with insurers like AIA and WrLife, noting age limits and customer service issues. There is an emphasis on the affordability and quality of government hospitals in Thailand, making self-insurance viable. The discourse highlights varying costs for insurance based on age and individual health status.

WrLife, no age restrictions, iβm 72 and had it for 5 -6 years and works perfect. Direct billing to all major hospitals as Bangkok hospital etc.
Self insure ! Put what's called disposable income in a separate bank account add as much as you xan afford every month ! Make sure someone you can trust can get access to it ! My brothers in Spain same insurance company for 27 years got to 70 didn't want to know him ! They'll use any excuse not to pay out ! Loss adjusters! I'm 70 I've known expats sell their condos didn't save them ! I've told my wife on no account sell the condo or our house ! At 70 you should br selecting coffins ! Lol
I think up to Β£200 a month! Thais hospitals are realy cheap just avoid the likes of Bangkok hospital as they're loaded with great technology but not always having the technicians to work them ! As we say in golf "All the gear no idea !
Kevin Dunne Pretty much what I was thinking too. I'm 77 and have got to self insure, because with my pre existing conditions absolutely no one even offers insurance.
The good news is that government Hospitals where most Thais go to are VERY good AND reasonably priced too.
At our ages there's a good chance you will not recover from a major operation carried out anywhere at any cost, so why bother. Be greatful
for the life you have already lived.
I want to live forever, so far so good πππππππ
Just make sure they are registered with the OIC lot of crooks about you will get hammered with a lump sum to pay first if you are taken ill God forbidden with some companies don't forget to declare any pre existing conditions too
it all depends on what the policy covers and where you fall in the age range, amount increases every 5 years. I currently pay around 65k baht for 1 million baht cover inpatient only, it'll increase again when I hit 71.
