TLDR : Answer Summary
First-time visitors to Bangkok are recommended to stay in areas close to BTS stations for convenience. Popular suggestions include Sukhumvit (especially Asok), Lumpini Park, and areas close to the Chao Phraya river. Notable hotel recommendations include the Grand Swiss Hotel at Sukhumvit Soi 11, Anantara Riverside, Oakwood Hotel & Residence Bangkok, Marriott in Thonglor, and Nana Hotel. Travelers emphasize the importance of proximity to transport options and local attractions.

Terminal 21 Mall has itโ€™s own BTS and MRT station attached. The Grand Centerpoint Hotel is attached to Terminal 21 Shopping Mall. Food, shopping and transportation are all there. Entertainment is but a short walk away.

Anywhere near BTS or MRT

Both are train systems and intersect at several locations. BTS, AKA Sky Train, it runs above ground (in the sky). MRT is below grown. Last time I rode them - they were two different systems. Buying a ticket for one doesn't work on the other.

Stay any hotel near BTS for convenience, preferably between Siam and Ekkamai stations.

Anywhere close to a BTS station ideally, towards the center. Asoke BTS station is what most people consider the center of Sukhumvit, but remember Bangkok is huge so there's a ton of different areas with centers.

This is the hotel I usually like to stay at when I travel back to Bangkok. Sukumvit 24 has a bunch of hotels though all up and down the soi, depending on your budget.
