TLDR : Answer Summary
Traveling from Bangkok to Kanchanaburi can be done using several modes of transport. Popular options include taking a train, which is a fun experience and offers scenic views, or using a bus which is typically the cheaper alternative. Minivans or taxis are also viable choices for convenience. For those wanting more comfort, private car services are available, and organized tours can add value, especially when visiting war cemeteries. Unique modes of transport like canoeing and even humorously suggested methods like traveling by elephant are also mentioned, but traditional options remain the most practical.

Driving is the best way! That way you have car so you can explore Kanchanaburi, Hellfire Pass and Erawan Falls National Park, and time permitting drive further north to see the Mon Bridge at Sangklaburi and the Three Pagodas Pass at the Myanmar Border. Make it a three day adventure!
