I find it easiest to hire a Visa agent to do everything for me. It is a little bit more money but I feel the convenience and time factor is worth it. There is a lot of conflicting information on Facebook I find

I am already in Bangkok. And I plan on living in Thailand as long as possible. So I want to explore short-term and long-term options. I was hoping we'd have some experienced people sharing their knowledge and experience here

should include that on your original post, as some visas can't be obtained inside Thailand. Also, age and job (if any) would help, as there are age-tailored visas here, also.
