Now I don't want to be that guy, but I was planning to apply for a visa to stay in Thailand for the winter, since just the idea of another winter in Sweden got me depressed. Especially after being in Thailand the whole of February.

So I searched the Internet, of course including Facebook. All the tips and trix got me so confused that I was about to cancel the whole thing.

Then I got a brilliant idea, get in touch with the thai embassy!

I wrote to them, specifying everything I wanted to know. After a couple of weeks I thought they had put my request in the "Big round archive". But all of a sudden a woman, obviously thai, called me. She gave me the information I needed, asking me continously if I had understood.

To finish it off she emailed me all the information. She actually gave me her direct number at the embassy if I had more questions.

So that's my top tip. Don't go for the Internet if you don't have very specific questions. If you have different options but don't know which way to go, get in touch with the thai embassy.

You may not get as lucky as I did with the wonderful woman to help you, but you will get the correct and updated information. Which is very important since the rules can change as fast as a pig blink.

I hope I don't upset anyone and present something that's been presented many times before. I have scrolled this page and it doesn't seem so.

I’ve applied for several different categories of visa for Thailand over the past 30 years, including for travel during Covid when travel rules were really changing frequently. Usually via London or NYC outposts. They have both been responsive and accurate. I’ve never had a single RFI or denial because ai followed their instructions. So I recommend this approach 💯!

Yes, I contacted the Embassy to ask advice and the said just use the visa exemption. Then immigration at the airport gave me a hard time.

If I was doing research I would start with a couple of the AI tools, cross-reference each other to ensure consistency with their answers. Then set up a consultation with a Visa agent. I did this in advance of my relocation and it was excellent to get a plan of action established and understand expectations.

The performance of the Stockholm embassy has been spotty in the past. We avoid relying on it. Congratulations for getting a good answer eventually. For web information, the Washington embassy appears to be the best one.

Johan E. Bengtsson yeah the embassy in Japan as well. I called during office hours as directed on the recording; never spoke to a person once. Just kept being directed to the website.

Absolutely excellent advice. We have been stressing about our visa options for our next trip and had read so much conflicting information.

So we went into the Thai Embassy and had a great conversation with a lady there who was just so helpful.

Last week I applied for my DTV visa and it was approved in less than a week after months of stressing about it. We just followed her advice and it all went through smoothly.

Definitely best to work with the embassy than believe all the negative Nellys on FB.

KC KC Yes, but if you read advice from people on the net it's a jungle out there. Which it doesn't have to be.
