You must be just starting out your research, as there are several well-established Facebook groups devoted purely to discussing ASQ hotels. Many of the posts go into great details to meet specific needs like balcony, halal food, exercise bike, 7-11 deliveries, etc. Take a read through the posts at: ASQ in Thailand

I’m genuinely intrigued as to how come you have had to go through it twice. You don’t have to answer of course, and tell me to mind my own. But it sounds quite hellish, even in the high end hotels. Both the entry requirements / paperwork, and the stay. If for work, surely a higher end hotel ? Business class flights ? Must be Clocking up serious overtime ? I guess you can work remotely from the hotel, but then why travel ? And in the modern world of digital signatures, video conference calls, etc why the need. Anyways, I wish you well on your ASQ. 🙏
I come for business and the first time yes it can be overwhelming with the paperwork etc but honestly 2nd time round was easier and took me 8 days to organise everything (from HK). For me space, balcony and small kitchen was more important than the food.
All ASQ Hotels are in Bkk, as the first point of entry. Phuket ones were stopped for reasons I'm not sure of, I haven't heard they've reopened yet. Yes you can choose your own to suit your own budget. Yes you could hate the experience or just the hotel, depends on your quality of life and standards of accommodation, food and hotels. You can travel south after your release.

The Courtyard by Marriott. Good food. Nice room. Excellent service. 52,250 with promo and Bonvoy discount.
, 3 full meals you order 1 day ahead each day from an online menu. The variety is good: Italian, Indian, Japanese, Thai, western, with 1 vegetarian option each meal. TBH, too much food.
Amarant Suvarnabhumi Airport Hotel. Spacious balcony from day 1. After the first negative Covid test you can spend 2x1 hr/day in the garden or by the pool. Food is excellent too with a choice of Thai, Western or Japanese. I paid 53.000 THB for a nice and spacious room in December. The staff was always very nice and helpful.
Pullman G Hotel. 60k THB. Great food. Great view through floor to ceiling windows. Access to outdoor pool deck for 1hr/day after first negative covid test result (on Day 6). Option to rent gym equipment for your room. Easy to communicate with
Courtyard by Marriott - @ Lumpini Park - 55K (52K if a member of the Marriott Club - save $100) -[based on a friend's experience in January - but no golf course... and no balcony[
I stayed at the Centre Point Silom, was very conformable and food was good. good views as well. i paid 50,000b so it was in the middle range of prices.
