Hi all

Nope you are enjoying your weekend

Picture the scene, you wake up minutes before sunrise, the weather report says the temperature is expected to hit very high and potentially dangerously high temperatures(this is for you people living in Thailand) and the pollution levels are high to dangerously high as well

What will your plans for the day be?

Thanks in advance

TLDR : Answer Summary
In response to the uncomfortably hot and polluted conditions in Thailand, several community members shared their day plans. Suggestions included escaping to the islands, going back to sleep, using air conditioning and air purifiers, or swimming if pollution levels allow. The conversation also touched on historical temperature records in Thailand, with participants disputing claims about the highest temperatures ever recorded. Overall, the discussion highlighted the need for precautions during extreme weather and air quality concerns.

Thailand has never hit 46 before so no need to worry.

@Duncan ******
Apparently 45.4 is the highest ever in Thailand.

@Jeff ******
no, it isn't.The record high is 44.6, first achieved in 2016 in Mueang Mae Hong Son and then matched last week in Tak.

And before you point to a report at the Washington Post or other lazy media outlets, here's the TMD saying that Tak hit the equal record high of 44.6 Saturday last week.

Can you show me where my words hurt you? I googled highest all time temp in Thailand and that's what came back. You are welcome to believe it or dismiss it.

May I suggest, it’s the weekend, let’s move on, better still, virtual shake hands and move on, no benefit falling out over a simple and innocent Facebook post πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘πŸΌ

ok, let’s cut out the details

As per my original post (amended)

The weather weather forecast is very hot temperatures and the pollution levels are high/ dangerously high

So, what would you your day look like as a result ? πŸ˜•

I forgot to mention - I would go for a swim as well. Here's the current PM 2.5 level next to my pool.

I would appreciate knowing the make and model of that (unless it’s 5+ years old so unlikely to be still available)

Think I need to be considering getting something similar πŸ‘πŸΌ

It's this one - and although I believe there might be a later model, it's still available for sale.

Same as it has for the last few months, but I might put the AC on earlier in the afternoon - no argument that it has been exceptionally hot in the last 2-3 weeks. Pollution levels I would test (like a fair few people in CM, I have a PM 2.5 measuring device) and ascertain whether it was safe to open the windows or whether I need to keep all the windows and doors closed due to high pollution and crank the air filters up.

Lovely to enjoy the 46. We get that regular at work. I love the heat.
Jeff *******
@Wayne ********
What job is that? I used to work on a paper machine and we certainly hit temperature far above that at times but not sustained.
Jeff *******
That makes sense. I was thinking Washington doesn't get that hot.

So do I πŸ₯΅πŸ˜€

I don't think the temperature has ever reached 46 degrees C in Thailand. 44.6 was the maximum reached in Mae Hong Son a few years ago.

Anyway, either way, what would you do? Stay home, keep the windows shut, turn on the AC and your air purifier.
Tony *********
It's only 10.30
Brandon ************
Go back to sleep because it's too early.

After that put on my N95 and carry on as normal.
Todd *********
get away from the air pollution and head to the islands south.
