Does anyone have a good agent to assist with obtaining a driver’s license in Bangkok? I’m looking for someone that you’ve personally used and can recommend, and someone that assists with verified genuine licenses. Thanks 🙏

TLDR : Answer Summary
Many expats seek help in obtaining a driver’s license in Bangkok and several have recommended agents. Notable mentions include Fatboys for general assistance, and Taom who handles residence and medical certificates. The process typically involves obtaining residency and medical certificates, completing an online test, and passing several tests at the DLT office, which can be facilitated by these agents.

how do I find him? Doesn’t come up on google

Bangkok, I used TDLS (google them). It is 4,800 THB. Before they take your custom, you have to deposit the money into their account (my Thai wife moved the money via ATM to them).

For car, you need your passport, Certificate of Residence, IDP and to pass 3 tests (reflexes), the tests are 15 seconds each, I can not imagine anyone failing the tests (pedals, traffic light colors).

From zero to Thai DL took 20 minutes with that agent. The DLT (Government) office was Bang Ja, Bangkok, DLT.

No appointments, no waiting times (days), no repeat visits to the DLT office. The agency does all that. The day I spoke to them (WhatsApp chat) they told me to come to the DLT office the next day, time of my choosing.

Not difficult

Do the online test. Save code ..

Get residency letter from Immigration requesting DL... .

Medical certificate (50-60 baht)

Then make appointment via DLT app to make appointment

Very easy to do yourself .

Get a residence certificate from Immigration and a medical certificate from a doctor/clinic and, in case it is required, do the 1 hour online video test then turn up at the DLT with these plus copies of your passport, entry stamp and visa plus current driving licence and IDP to do the 3 simple reaction tests to get your licence. That was the process in Sa Kaeo (no video test required thou but some require it).

yeah, I read online what are the requirements, it’s just a hassle to go get all those documents if an agent can take care of everything on my behalf. I would just like to find an agent that won’t screw me.

@Graham *****
problem is also that first available appointment here in Bangkok is in late March
Graham ******
@Guy **********
but even if you use an agent to jump the queues it will be easier/cheaper with an IDP than Embassy documents ;)

@Graham *****
probably not the medical, but hopefully the certificate of residency and all foreign license translations and certifications. And the hours of wait at immigration and DLT
Graham ******
@Guy **********
I got my residence certificate in 25 minutes and my DL in 75 minutes (Sa Kaeo province) - 100% legal as I did every test and total cost 310B. So you don't have an IDP?
Guy ***********

@Graham *****
I do have an IDP, just don’t have patience 😊
Graham ******
@Guy **********
so who told you you need the Embassy stuff or didn't they know you have an IDP?

@Graham *****
nobody told me anything, just what I gathered so far from reading online
Graham ******
@Guy **********
go to ask or have someone phone the DLT, your IDP should be ok
Graham ******
@Guy **********
so an agent does a medical for you?
Rudi ***********
@Graham *****
for land transport Pathum Thani, the 1h video is added, as well as the Belgian driving license (I am Belgian) must be translated into English and legalized by the Belgian embassy
Graham ******
@Rudi **********
so you don't have an International Driving Permit?
Rudi ***********
@Graham *****
And the residence certificate, the TM30 form is incorrect; it should be a residence certificate specifically for applying for a driver's license. It cost 800 baht. I also need that same certificate to get my white license plate on my new car.
Graham ******
@Rudi **********
Yes, on the TM form you tick the reason(s) for the RC, not all Immigration Offices charge for this service and it can be done as you wait.
Rudi ***********
@Graham *****
I got that too, especially, but my driver's license still had to be translated by a recognized translation agency and legalized by the embassy.

The one I've seen most often recommended for Bangkok is Fatboys

@Brandon ***********
Yeah fat boys is great if you like working with people who screw you.
Brandon ************
@Garrett **********
I dunno. I just always see them recommended. When I tried to contact them they never replied to me, and I ended up doing it myself in Chiang Mai

I see lots of agents advertising on the different FB groups, just don’t know how to distinguish between the honest ones and the scammers
Brandon ************
@Guy **********
The easiest way to know if it's a scammer is if they say you don't have to go to the DLT office.
