Hey everybody.

Any recommendations / experience with driving school in bkk?

Asking for a friend who has no Facebook. He is a good driver. Just needs the licence.

I am looking for English speaking staff (farang friendly school).

Yannawa area preferred but I will be happy about every recommendation.

Thanks in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user is seeking recommendations for English-speaking driving schools in Bangkok, specifically in the Yannawa area, for a friend who needs to obtain a Thai driver's license. Several comments suggest that if the friend already has a valid foreign driver's license, he may not need driving school, while others emphasize the need to attend school for motorbike licenses. A specific driving school link was shared, highlighting past success for an English-speaking individual.

for that you need to go to school. Two days and it’s done. This is why I am asking for recommendations

you only need very basic driving skills for Thai test if he needs to go school to pass that then he cannot really drive. Its not a compulsary requirement to attend a school

I know I know… but as far as I experienced it here in Thailand: if you don’t have a licence for motorbike and you want one (sorry, I did not mention this before)you have to go to school (15hours, Test included) and then you get your licence.

This is exactly what my friend is looking for…

If he has a valid driver's license from his home country, and knows how to drive, he does not need a driving school to get a Thai driver's license.

if he knows how to drive a motorbike then it is just a matter of waiting in the queue to take the driving test. Sometimes agents can speed that up. If he needs to learn how to drive one, then Honda has a very good school.

Does he already have a foreign licence for car/bike?

Can he obtain a residence certificate from immigration? In other words, is he doing 90 day reports?

Without a residence certificate, he won't be getting a licence in Bangkok from a driving school. No 90 day reports = no residence cert.

that is not true. You can also get a notarized residency verification letter from your embassy, and it has nothing to do with a 90 day report.

not from most Embassys eg the UK while on a tourist visa it's a NO cannot do. It has everything to do with 90 day reports, because if you aren't doing them you aren't on a visa where immigration (Bangkok) will issue a residence certificate
