Best to have an OA visa to get the trailing spouse most immagration offices don’t issue this on a non-o let us know how it turns out
If your wife just received the 1-year extension based on retirement, then that one would not be cut short. She would wait until that extension has almost ended, and then for the next extension she could attempt to apply for the trailing spouse extension instead. If immigration allows it, then that extension would only go until the end of your extension.
For an extension based on retirement (which both you and your wife currently have), you must leave 800,000 baht in the bank account for 3 months after the extension is granted, and then you can never let the balance drop below 400,000 baht the rest of the year. You need to bring it back up to 800,000 a full 2 months before you want to apply for your next extension.
For your wife, she also needs to follow those rules since they are the requirement of the extension she's on right now. If she goes below 800,000 for 3 months after the extension, or 400,000 the rest of the time, then they will not allow her to apply for the next extension regardless of it being retirement or trailing spouse. I would bring her balance up to 800,000 just in case immigration does not allow her to apply for the trailing spouse extension.
