What are the best visa agents in Hua Hin or Bangkok for retirement visas?

My husband and I, from New Zealand, would appreciate recommendations for good Visa Agents in Hua Hin, or possibly Bangkok, to assist us in managing our visa process for retirement in Hua Hin.

Given the number of difficulties that so many people appear to be experiencing at present with either IO’s or banks we’ve decided we would prefer to spend the money on an agent to make sure the process is “watertight” and goes smoothly. As such we are keen to hear from those who have recently used agents to assist in their visa matters.

We think at present that we should look at coming in on the Non-O and will require multiple entries arrangements as we will make about three trips annually given we have family living in both NZ and Dubai that we will want to visit each year-at least while we are able.

Ages 64 and 57.

Have finances sorted to meet Non-O criteria.

Have also “tested the waters” in Thailand over the past three years to determine if right for us. Hua HIN definitely our favourite.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A couple from New Zealand is seeking recommendations for reliable visa agents in Hua Hin or Bangkok to help with their Non-O retirement visa application. They prefer to use an agent due to the complexities surrounding the visa process as well as issues others have encountered with immigration offices and banks. Several community members recommended agents, shared their experiences, and provided advice on applying for the Non-O visa either before arriving or after getting to Thailand. Suggestions for specific agents included Baan Thai Immigration in Bangkok and several agents in Hua Hin, with additional tips on banking and extending stay once in Thailand.
NON-O RETIREMENT VISA RESOURCES / SERVICES
  • Go to the Retirement Visa Section for information on requirements, including age restrictions, financial requirements, and necessary documentation.
  • For immediate assistance, contact Thai Visa Centre directly via LINE at @ThaiVisaCentre or Email them.
  • Explore recent discussions by using the Non-O Retirement Visa tag in the search box at the top of the page.
  • Join the Thai Visa Advice Facebook Group to ask your questions, and get advice from others.

I live in Hua Hin

3 months ago when I was looking for a retirement Visa - there wasn’t anyone in HH that could do the whole process without v Thailand - sadly I ended up going to Pattaya

As mentioned, if you are still in home country it would be a big advantage to apply for the Non-O Visa before you are ready to come over

Non-O before you arrive.

When you arrive, get your Thai phone numbers sorted. You can buy at airport. Price difference is negligible if staying long term and you can top up with regular price through the respective apps.

Use the first couple of weeks to sort out bank accounts, should be easy enough, but might require visits to a few branches.

I recommend Kasikorn.

When bank accounts are sorted transfer the money to the accounts and make sure the transfer is labeled as international.

That is the difficult things sorted.

In the last 30 days of your initial 90 day stay, head to Immigration to get a updated list of documentation they require for your extensions. Ask how many sets of copies they will want too.

There are local variables to how fresh they want the bank documentation to be as well.

And when you have all the required documents, make sure you have enough copies of everything.

Head to the Immigration Office again when your money has been in your Thai bank accounts for at least 2 months to extend.

And buy a multiple entry Re-entry permit if you are planning on traveling a lot.

Easy peasy, just need some planning.

Thanks Marianne. Appreciate the easy to understand advice. Have copied it into my notes to refer to as we make our decisions.

Just remember once you use an agent you’ll most likely always have to use an agent because you won’t have the funds to show to switch to the monthly transfers so an agent nowadays isn’t really air tight good luck

This is not true if the OA has their own funds on deposit in a Thai bank.. the agent is then simply checking the documentation and submitting it to immigration on behalf of the applicant.. so is really an unnecessary component.. maintaining personal control of the process is always better imo.. the first time you extend you will learn the ropes.. then every year thereafter it's a piece of cake 😉
Bob **********
@Ally ***********
you cannot apply for a OA in Thailand if they have there money in a bank no need for an agent at all
Ally ************
@Bob *********
What OA are you referring to my friend? My reference to OA means 'original author's whereas your seems misplaced? But they need to apply for a 90-day non-o visa in own country.. then come here and open a bank account in readiness to deposit their own funds.. easy to do once you understand the process.. agents are only employed by people who are either too lazy to go the diy route.. or value their own time at a higher hourly rate than the agents time.. or those people who need to scam the system because they can't fulfil all the criteria!
Bob **********
@Ally ***********
an OA is a long stay visa one year multi re entry visa if your not sure of what visas are available to enter Thailand you shouldn’t give advice to apply for a non-o in country they need 800k seasoned in a Thai bank in there names which they cannot do as they can’t open a bank account they need to apply for the non-o before they come and if they have the funds problem solved
Ally ************
@Bob *********
That's exactly what i said.. except i was not referring to an OA visa in my comments.. you misinterpreted my statement to introduce the OA visa which was not part of my advice at all.. I'm fully conversant with the relevant visa choices for this situation.. and suggested the non-o which was clearly going to be based on retirement in this instance.. so no other options were worthy of discussion.. so I'm not sure why you would start talking about an OA visa which had nothing to do with my remark.. other than the fact you misunderstood it! Otherwise, everything you've just said repeats what i had stated myself!!

You need to get the Non O before you come here in order to open a Bank account and after that the rest is fairly easy, Avoid Bangkok Bank and if you still feel you need an agent then these on Soi 94 are very good and helpful.

If you get the non-O before you come you have done the difficult part already. Why not try to do it yourself first before engaging an agent? Opening a bank account with the non-O should be simple but might involve asking at a few banks. Extending your stay is one A4 form with about 15 questions (name, address, passport number, date arrived in Thailand etc). You need photocopies of passport bank info, but it's very simple.
