Hi..

I entered CM on the 16th Jan 2020 from Australia.. with the intentions of living permanently in CM with my Thai wife..

I'm over retirement age and my visa is a Non-imm O based on marriage issued in Australia..

No Health insurance was asked for in Australia..

Now my wife and I have rented home in Mai rim ..

My question is..Next week I need to go and renew my visa...but not sure my best options and long term cost of living in CM.

Retirement visa married to Thai...?

1 year extension..?

And what about health insurance..?

I not have any at this moment?

Would appreciate your comments and help..

TLDR : Answer Summary

If you don't meet the proof of funds requirements for either of those two yearly extension options you COULD get a 60 day visit thai family extension without showing proof of funds :) That would give you the time you need to get your money "seasoned" in the bank account the appropriate time so you could apply for a year extension

Hopefully, as Tod has said, you have already banked the money! Whatever you are doing, it's not applying for a new visa.

For retirement extension you show 800K baht banked in a thai bank account in your name only for 2 months before you apply for the year extension AND you need to keep the money IN the account for 3 months after you get the extension and after that the balance can never go below 400K baht for the rest of the year

BUT

For marriage to a thai extension you show 400K baht banked in a thai bank account in your name only for 2 months before you apply for the year extension.

Go to the immigration office BEFORE you need the extension and get the hand out that lists the exact requirements for the visa extension you're going to apply for so you can compile the documents, the photos, the copies etc.

Thanks Tod..have banked 400k but on the 16th April I'm just a few days short on time money held in bank.

So maybe go for 60days ....

What's the cost for a 60day ...?

you don't need health insurance because you didn't buy an O-A Long stay visa from a thai consulate in your country before you came here
