TLDR : Answer Summary
Many expats advise telling Thai border officials that your reason for entering Thailand is tourism, especially if you are on a tourist or visa-exempt entry. Some suggest simplifying your responses to avoid complications, while others express concerns about immigration monitoring online discussions. Overall, it is generally recommended to keep your explanation uncomplicated, stating you're there for holiday purposes.

Tourist. It' all I tell them. If inquired further I explain that I am employed in the US, via remote office. It sufficiently confuses them. But on all the paperwork - I say I am here for tourism.
