I am considering applying for DTV for medical visa. I have a spine condition and have already seen a doctor in Bangkok who gave me a medical certificate with diagnosis and treatment plan however the certificate says treatment (being medical physical therapy at a hospital) for 6 weeks. However since he only wrote it for 6 weeks would it not be approved? Should I ask for a longer treatment plan?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the application for a DTV (Non-Immigrant Visa for Medical Treatment) in Thailand. The user is questioning whether a medical certificate that only specifies a 6-week treatment is sufficient for approval. Comments suggest that for 6 weeks, entering Thailand under a visa-exempt status might be more beneficial, saving costs. Others advise seeking a longer treatment plan from the doctor to better support the DTV application and to ensure clearer communication of medical needs to the embassy.
Ask your Dr for longer, explain to him/her the circumstances of obtaining a DTV, seems like they should be well aware of your prognosis and could easily stamp something that has a longer time frame written out. Technically any embassy or consulate can easily refuse bc of 6 weeks if you're from a 60 day exempt country.
I think you can go for medical route, my doctor wrote one more month, but I’ve attached my previous appointments too, so embassy will know it’s not just a random issue, and will have more follow ups along the way.
Additionally I also considered applying as a remote worker. I have a strong portfolio but in between clients currently. I have all the required documents and funds just not sure which is the strongest path
Anonymous participant Form an LLC and give yourself a salary for a few months. After that, apply for DTV based on the remote worker category. If you really think that you need treatment for a longer period, ask the doctor for a treatment plan covering at least 6 months.
Anonymous participant I got my DTV based on a single appointment with neurosurgeon. Applied in Jakarta. Also spine issues, and under ongoing treatment in Bangkok.
Depending on where you apply, you should have plenty documentation for DTV on medical grounds.
The medical certificate also makes opening a Bank account waaaaaay easier
